Couture Caddy On BOWIE…

Photo by: Jacquii Lie, Couture Caddy

The ever-lovely Jacquii Lie of Couture Caddy was an Australian blogging presence in New York during Fashion Palette and attended the BOWIE parade in a show of support.

She had this to say:

“Fashion elite, tourists, street vendors, passerbys, office workers all stopped to catch a glimpse of this couture delight unfolding before their eyes. The models glided down the runway in delicate designs that shone against the big apple’s iconic concrete jungle proving it really is where dreams are made of.”

BOWIE Served Up To The BIG APPLE On A Fashion Palette!

Bowie Wong, alongside nine other top Australian designers showcased their latest collections on the runway for Fashion Palette NY – a week ahead of New York Fashion Week.

The Fashion Palette projects aims to bring attention to Australian designers, offering them a launch pad into one of the fashion capitals of the world, New York.

Interviewed by Renata Gorton, Bowie made the comment that it was the opportunity of a dream come true saying “I don’t think I would have been able to stage a solo show in New York, because there are so many things that need to be organised.”

And what about spending time with fellow designers in the cut-throat world of fashion? “We all became really good friends. Normally I would say fashion is cold and designers don’t talk to each other but after this group show I think I’ve changed my opinion,” Bowie said.

Bowie’s comments supporting Fashion Palette NY have since featured in The Daily Telegraph, The Courier Mail, The Australian, The Herald Sun, Perth Now, Adelaide Now and news.com.au.

Grazia! BOWIE The Trooper…

You may recall that last month, Stylehunter ran an exclusive competition in which one lucky winner got their hands on a one-off, custom made BOWIE leather and lambswool cropped jacket. Well, before it became a prized possession it was styled by Tiana Wallace and featured in a fashion editorial for Grazia Magazine.

This week, you will find this sexy jacket on page 61 of the magazine, included in the “Trooper”-inspired photo shoot, shot by Chris Collis.

No doubt, this look will warm you up on any cold winter’s day!

Couturing.com Interviews Bowie Wong…

The lovely Lisa Teh from Couturing.com recently chatted to designer Bowie Wong about his latest collection, his past inspirations, his design philosophy and what’s in store for the future.

For the full interview and some stunning runway photos, head over to: http://www.couturing.com/blog/read-entry?blog_entries_id=242

To whet your appetite, here’s a sample of what was up for discussion…

“LISA: You collaborated with industry heavyweights Kevin Murphy, Napoleon Perdis and stylist Sophia Banks-Coloma for your recent runway show to ensure every element was perfect. How important are runway shows to showing the industry and the public your stunning designs?

BOWIE: On the whole, when people see my designs, they ask me “It’s lovely, but who is going to wear it?” But for me, a runway show is a collaborative event with other artists and it gives us a chance to express ourselves… In this way, we hope that the public can come to understand what it is we do and also learn to respect out titles as designers and artists. It is not meant as straightforward a commercial activity and I hope people can look deeper than that to see the story and the effort that goes into a show.
